A typical Setup for Shuswap Lake is as follows:

9ft 8WT Fly Rod

Type 7 Wet Line followed with 150 yards of premium Fly Backing

10-15ft of 20lb Fluorocarbon Leader. I have found no Taper is necessary

Let out the entire sinking fly line section + 5 ft of backing

Speed 3-4km/hr weaving in and out from shore (getting as close as 10 ft from shore all the way out to a few hundred meters)

A Typical Setup for Smaller Stocked Stillwater Lake Trout Trolling is as follows:

10ft 5 or 6WT Fly Rod

Floating Line with a Type 3 Sink Tip Leader

10ft of 8lb Fluorocarbon leader. I have found no Taper is necessary

Let out 50ft of fly line

Speed 1-3km/hr all over the lake (especially where fish are rising)
